Out of Control - Part 2

August 28th, 2005 @ 12:25amEST - by Josh

So this fat bitch (you know what, shut the fuck up right now, because I’m gonna tell you why she’s a bitch - and I’m fat too, in that I’m overweight and don’t like how I look and admit that I need to do better - so get off my ass for calling her fat and I’ll call her a bitch if I want because it’s a free country) in New Hampshire filed a complaint with the state’s board of medicine after her doctor told her she is obese.

What in the Live-Free-or-Die fuck is going on here? First of all, read what the doctor has to say.

I’m going to assume that this lady really is overweight - i.e. that she carries more fat for her frame and age than is considered healthy by whatever established standard is accepted by the medical community at large (no pun intended). You don’t need me to tell you that based on that fact alone, and the sheer volume of studies that are out there to support the concept, this woman is at increased risk for a whole laundry list of complications as her life progresses. This guy is her doctor. This guy is the one that is supposed to fix her when she is broken. This guy is the one who is supposed to work with her to mitigate all the risks that come with every day life in our world today so she can stay healthy and lead a full life.

My opinion is that this woman went to the wrong doctor - and not because the doctor in question is wrong - but because before she can be in any position to address the condition previously pointed out, she needs to get her fucking head examined by a psychiatrist.

Lady, I don’t know your name. I don’t even know what you look like. I don’t know anything about you - nothing about your values, ideas, hopes, dreams, marital status, kids, sexual preference, race, creed, socio-economic standing. But, here’s the deal: Just like me, you’re fat and you need to hear it and fix that shit so you don’t die.

If you’re offended because you think your doctor called you fat - guess, what - he did! And he’s gonna bill you and your insurance for the time and your gonna fucking pay, and I’ll tell you why: because that’s exactly what you went to see him for in the first place. This doctor did not look at some bloody wound on your knee and tell you that your liver was broken. He looked at you, and based on common sense and the fact that he isn’t blind, determined that you have a weight problem. His is what’s reffered to as a professional medical opinion. In fact, courts of law in this country will take his opinion as fact where its applicable simply because he is a properly credentialed practitioner.

And by the way, this is for your lawyers - shut the fuck up and sit down, you ambulance chasing piece of sheister-shit! Just because the doctor never got a weight reading in the chart, doesn’t mean he can’t make a qualified determination regarding her health - I would argue your client purposely avoided the scale in the first place because she knows she’s fat!!!

I’ve always thought that the vast majority of what’s on the news today is crap. I think this story is important because it speaks to a huge problem that faces our society today and that is our over-litigious sense of denial and immaturity. This woman wants to go to the doctor and wants to pay this highly educated man to lie to her - an act that will land him in court and possibly in jail. If this case sees the light of day in any significant manner beyond the media coverage it’s garnered thus far, the message we should take from that fact alone is that your doctor should never talk to you because no matter what he says - truth or fiction - he’s gonna end up in trouble. That’s no way to practice medicine.

Lady, you’re obese. So am I. Maybe we should both put the cupcake down, and hit the gym and stop wasting everyone’s time with this bullshit. Last time I checked, there were much more important issues facing our society.
